The One Proposal was a multiannual project targeting vulnerable people displaced from Ukraine across 5 countries, including Romania. It delivered a holistic response built around 4 pillars: welcome, protect, integrate and build capacity.

The Livelihood Project by JRS Romania has defined the ‘holistic case management’ approach, a multiannual intervention designed to promote the resilience and socio-economic integration of refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants.

Jobs for Ukraine is an integrated model of activation and professional insertion, based on refugee involvement, counselling, skills training, digital recruitment tools and mediation with employers.

The project focused on welcoming, training and professionally integrating migrants and beneficiaries of international protection in Portugal, through training and employment programmes in the hotel and catering sector. 655 migrants followed the programmes, with 328 having secured employment so far.

The ‘Foster care for unaccompanied minors’ programme offers migrant children a safe, stable family environment. Through cooperation between civil society and public authorities, Greece has developed a structured national framework for this protection initiative.

Startup Refugees is a non-profit organisation that supports migrants in their search for employment, in developing their skills and starting a business in Finland. Its network comprises over 5 000 members, including companies and organisations. It has been running successfully since 2015.

The aim of the project was to strengthen the capacity of the Centre for Foreigners in the Ústí nad Labem Region (one of the country’s 14 regional migrant integration centres) to provide support specifically targeted at refugee children and their families.

“To Get Together”, led by the Slovak Academy of Sciences with partners, supported people displaced from Ukraine by strengthening resilience and integration through safeguarding living cultural heritage. 

Since 2014, the Baba project supports migrant fathers with an ethnic minority background in Denmark, to strengthen family ties with schools, kindergartens, and the community. It promotes positive child development, through peer-to-peer support, addressing challenges with childcare professionals.

The project promoted migrant employment in Finland by providing training and job placements. It began in Uusimaa and Southwest Finland, targeting labour-shortage sectors, and later expanded to other high-demand regions, securing jobs for 2 500 migrants and promoting their integration.

The fight against discrimination has seen limited political support from local leadership in France. Thomas Kirszbaum studied anti-discrimination networks in four cities, with the aim to strengthen responses to ethno-racial discrimination and improve local vigilance networks.

Newly arrived migrants in France often experience a downgrading of their socio-professional status. This project supports newly arrived migrants and refugees through the Validation of Acquired Experience process, helping with the recognition for skills through French certification. 

The goal of the project was to contribute to the integration of Ukrainian displaced populations granted temporary protection in the Slovak Republic, specifically by financing a portion of the costs associated with their housing. 

Izan Harrera is a mentorship programme that fosters inclusion by pairing locals with refugees and migrants for mentoring, in the province of Gipuzkoa. The programme responds to the growing diversity in the region, where 13% of the population is of migrant origin.

PowerCoders is a social initiative offering digital training. Created in response to the 2015 crisis, with the goal of promoting equal job opportunities for displaced IT industry professionals, it aims to foster IT job integration programmes for refugees and migrants in Turin and Milan. 

"Paths to Integration" ran from June 2018 to February 2022. The project supported refugees and other migrants with their social integration, focusing on psychological health and well-being.  

The National Youth Programme of Danish NGO Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke (MS) - part of the ActionAid federation - empowers youth from disadvantaged areas via the “Stronger Together” initiative. It fosters active citizenship, democratic participation and local youth-led change.

The Bridges of Belonging project, implemented by Estonian NGO Mondo in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), aimed to support refugee integration in Estonia through art therapy, language education, and community engagement.

The Migrantech platform, a European project based in France, was developed during the first COVID-19 confinement period, in March 2020, to support migrants and refugees in using face-to-face digital tools and to help them back into employment, by developing digital and other transferable skills.
