Seasonal worker in Lithuania - European Commission

Conditions

To work in Lithuania as a seasonal worker, you must obtain:

a seasonal work permit that can be issued for 6 months per year;
a Schengen visa (if a seasonal work permit was issued to you for a period shorter than 90 days and you are not exempt from the visa requirement) or a national long-term visa (if a seasonal work permit was issued to you for a period longer than 90 days).

Procedures

Where and how to apply	Work permit Your future employer must notify the job vacancy to the local Employment Service Office. Within one month after this notification, your future employer may apply for your seasonal work permit at the same local Employment Service Office. Your future employer must submit a preliminary employment contract to the local Employment Service Office when applying for a seasonal work permit. Once a work permit has been granted, the employer may sign the employment contract with you, in compliance with relevant laws. The application will be processed and the permit will be issued within 7 working days. The detailed procedure for applying for a seasonal work permit is described here. National long-term visa Once a seasonal work permit is issued, you may apply for a national long-term visa which is issued by a Lithuanian embassy or consulate in the country of your residence. National long-term visa will be issued to you within 15 days and will allow you to enter and stay in the country for up 6 months.
Documents required	Schengen visa If a seasonal work permit was issued to you for a period shorter than 90 days and you are not exempt from the visa requirement, you must apply for a Schengen visa. The Schengen visa is issued by a Lithuanian embassy or consulate. The list of documents required is described here. To apply for a national long-term visa, you must submit: an application for issuing a national long-term visa that was electronically filled in; a valid travel document (passport); a photo; the number of a mediation letter that was electronically filled in and submitted by your employer; a seasonal work permit or a letter from the local Employment Service Office confirming that an application for a renewal or issuance of a new seasonal work permit is submitted; sufficient financial resources; a document confirming health insurance (insurance sum of 30 000 Eur). In order to issue the document, your all hand fingerprints will be taken.
Further requirements	A seasonal worker or the employer no later than within 7 days shall notify the territorial department of Employment Service in the event of change of accommodation
Duration of validity of permits	Seasonal work permits are granted for a maximum of 6 months. National long-term visas are granted for the time of validity of the seasonal work permit.
Conditions for renewal	If a seasonal work permit was issued for a period shorter than 6 months per year a new seasonal work permit may be issued. In this case you may apply for a national long-term visa at the Lithuanian embassy or consulate, if you are abroad, or at the certain divisions of the Migration department (Vilnius, Kaunas or Klaipeda), if you are staying legally in Lithuania.
Appeals	Decisions can be challenged before the Vilnius District Administrative Court within 14 days from the receipt of the decision and further before the Supreme Administrative Court.

Rights

Change of employment	If you wish to change an employer, a new seasonal work permit must be issued. A new work permit can be issued once for an alien who wishes to change employer if the working period of 6 months during a 12-month period is not exceeded.
Change of status	You may change your status, but in this case you must apply for a new national long-term visa or a temporary residence permit.
Family members	You are not entitled to be accompanied by your family members.
Long-term residence	There is no possibility for seasonal workers to obtain a permanent resident’s status.
