The Employers' Confederation of Latvia helps create labour integration framework

The Employers' Confederation of Latvia (LDDK) is involved in a government working group aimed at creating a framework system for the admission of asylum seekers, and the integration of refugees and persons with an alternative status.

The group was created in July 2015, resulting in the decision that the Action Plan on Admission of Asylum Seekers will be implemented by the State Employment Agency (NVA) in cooperation with employers.

LDDK has provided information on employers’ readiness to employ beneficiaries of international protection status and found through a survey carried out in September 2015 that about half of the respondents were ready to employ such persons. LDDK thus presented proposals to ensure higher rates of employment for persons with an international protection status, with a focus on recognition of professional qualifications and Latvian language proficiency requirements.
