Drug trafficking is one of the key threats to the internal security of the EU, with 38% of criminal organisations based within the EU reported to be related to drug trafficking. The ongoing EU-funded project The Global Drug Intelligence Network aims to dismantle criminal networks on a global scale.

On 24 July, Commissioner Johansson presented the Common Implementation Plan for the Pact on Migration and Asylum to the new Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE), underlining that this exchange will help turn the newly adopted Pact into a reality.

On 24 July, the Commission adopted its fifth Rule of Law Report and released the results of two surveys on the attitudes of citizens and businesses towards corruption, which provide data for anti-corruption policymaking and show that most Europeans believe corruption is widespread in their country.

Co-funded by the European Commission, the “All Children in Education” programme was concluded on June 30, making a significant impact on the lives of refugee and migrant children in Greece. Since its launch in 2021, it has supported over 25,000 children, bridging formal and non-formal education.

On 14 July, the revised EU Anti-Trafficking Directive enters into force with stronger rules to fight trafficking in human beings. The revised Directive introduces stricter criminalisation and provides stronger tools for public authorities to investigate and prosecute new forms of exploitation.
