Progress on Bulgaria and Romania’s Pilot Project with the Commission for fast asylum and return procedures
Following the EU Western Balkans Action Plan, the European Commission President’s letter of 26 January 2023 and the European Council conclusions of 9 February, a joint Pilot project of the European Commission with Bulgaria and Romania has been set up to contribute to a sustainable European migration

The target group of this training are skilled judicial staff members working with or expected soon to be working with VRWE cases. We have capacity for maximum 15 participants from the Western Balkans only.
CERIS FCT Event: Community Policing

Lesvos job fair matches businesses to asylum seekers
DG HOME colleagues helped to organise a third job fair for asylum seekers in Lesvos, Greece on May 4.
These job fairs, co-organised with UNHCR, include mapping of potential candidates, tuition for target candidates on preparing their CVs, papers and also interview preparation. Information sessions
EU security projects on the ground in Türkiye post earthquake
Following the catastrophic 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Türkiye and Syria in February 2023, aid from all over Europe has been sent to the field in order to assist national authorities and bodies to handle the crisis.
Visa applications reach 7.5 million in EU- and Schengen Associated Countries – a 258% increase to 2021
Figures published by the European Commission show that the consulates of the EU countries and Schengen Associated Countries received more than 7.5 million applications for short-stay visas in 2022.
