On 25 June, over 300 beneficiaries of HOME Funds in the fields of migration, border management and security gathered in Brussels together with the EU national authorities managing the Funds, to discuss the Commission’s plans for funding in the next years and how to deliver more impactful projects.

On 25 June, the Council adopted a Recommendation for a Critical Infrastructure Blueprint, proposed by the Commission in September 2023. This will enable the EU to respond with more coordination to significant cross-border critical infrastructure incidents and improve situational awareness.

On 25 June 2024, the EU and Serbia signed an agreement on operational cooperation in border management with the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex).

On 25 June, the European Migration Conference took place in Brussels bringing together international and European key actors to discuss the implementation of the Pact on Migration and Asylum. Speakers focused on the Pact's implementation, which will be concluded by the new Commission.

On 20 June, World Refugee Day, the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) issued three publications gathering tools, insights and lessons learnt from the EU funded Safe Homes programme.

On 17 and 18 June, more than 130 participants from EU Member States, Moldova and Ukraine, the EU Agencies and civil society organisations attended the EU Network of National Coordinators and Rapporteurs on trafficking in human beings meeting in Brussels.

On 17 June, the Commission launched a new initiative in the field of prevention of radicalisation – the EU Knowledge Hub. The Hub will support all stakeholders involved in prevention of radicalisation, including policymakers, practitioners, and researchers.

On 12 June, the Voluntary Solidarity Mechanism reached 5,000 relocations of asylum seekers to other European countries. Relocation is a process that allows applicants and beneficiaries of international protection to move from their EU host country to another European country.

Commission opened for an application a call for proposals with a budget of EUR 12 million. This call will support Common Operational Partnership projects to prevent and fight against migrant smuggling. The application deadline is 4 September 2024.

Every three years, the Commission assesses the need for revising the visa fees and according to the Visa Code can increase them based on a list of “objective criteria”. This includes Euro area annual inflation rate and the average salary of a civil servant in EU countries.
