On 14 March, the European Parliament and the Council reached a provisional political agreement on the Commission's proposal to update the Regulation on import, export and transit of firearms for civilian use. The revised rules will enhance security and address firearms trafficking.

Commissioner Johansson was in Berlin on 21 February and Warsaw on 26 February. In Berlin, she discussed the new Pact on Migration and Asylum in the Bundestag EU committee, and in Warsaw, she met with the Polish Minister of the Interior to discuss the EU’s support for Poland in hosting refugees.

Meet Foundation Ukraine, an NGO supporting migrant and refugee integration in Poland
Foundation Ukraine is an NGO providing support to migrants and refugees in Lower Silesia, Poland. Following the invasion of Ukraine, the organisation started implementing a new EU co-funded project to support the Polish authorities with the reception and integration of people displaced from Ukraine.
Newly released data show an increase of trafficking in human beings
New data for trafficking in human beings shows a 41% increase compared to the previous year. This may be the result of higher detection rates of victims thanks to awareness raising actions to prevent trafficking of those fleeing Ukraine. However, the detection of victims remains of key importance.
