The main stakeholders targeted through the public consultation include:

  • relevant Member States authorities;
  • relevant EU Institutions and EU agencies;
  • relevant stakeholders, including civil society, industry, experts, research centres, academia;
  • relevant actors operating in ports (European Ports Alliance);
  • general public, including direct beneficiaries of the drug services and especially treatment;
  • relevant international organisations;
  • public authorities and law enforcement agencies from selected non-EU countries, in particular candidate and acceding countries, Latin American countries, Central Asia countries, North and Western African countries, Eastern Partnership countries and the US.

Why we are consulting

The objective of this consultation is to gather stakeholders’ feedback on the EU Drugs strategy 2021-2025 and the related action plan. And more precisely, how they have been implementing it since we are approaching the end of their cycle.

The consultation will collect feedback on the effectiveness, efficiency, relevance, coherence and added value of the actions taken under the Drugs strategy and action plan. This feedback will not only look at existing issues and unintended consequences under the current drug policies, but also will identify and outline future challenges while simultaneously proposing the necessary adjustments and appropriate solutions.

Overall, this consultation aims to contribute to more transparency, more public engagement and better policy outcomes, particularly in EU drug policy.
