On 28 October, the European Commission and the Ministry of Interior of North Macedonia signed an Administrative Arrangement to collaborate in the European Migration Network, making North Macedonia one of the network’s Observer Countries. The arrangement was signed in Budva, at the margins of the EU-Western Balkan Ministerial Forum, in the presence of EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson.
Both sides agreed to exchange up-to-date, objective, reliable and comparable information on asylum and migration in North Macedonia, EMN Members (EU Member States except Denmark) and Observer Countries (Norway, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Montenegro, Armenia, and Serbia). The Administrative Arrangement is an important step towards reinforced cooperation and efficient exchange of information. The network’s goal is to meet the information needs of the EU institutions and of Member States’ authorities and institutions on migration, asylum, and home affairs, with a view to support policymaking. North Macedonia will contribute to the European Migration Network’s objectives, attending all meetings and contributing to network’s studies and reports.
