Over 110 participants from coast guards, border and customs authorities as well as academia, research institutions, industry, and civil society organisations came together on 19 February 2024 in Brussels for a Workshop of the Community for European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS).
Anticipating the future, both in terms of threats and opportunities offered by new emerging technologies is a real challenge. Having the capacity to depict plausible futures, to identify upcoming risks and to propose early responses can be of invaluable help to decision makers.
CERIS provides a platform for policy makers, security practitioners, researchers and academia, industry and civil society to identify gaps & needs and solutions for civil security. Set up in October 2022, the CERIS expert group is the backbone of the CERIS community that counts 3100 subscribers.
The annual event of the EU Innovation Hub for internal security took place in Brussels on 3 October 2023, together with the CERIS Expert Group Annual Event on 4 and 5 October. The event was co-organised with CERIS with support of DG HOME, in order to bring together the Hub and the CERIS experts.
Strengthening the resilience of critical infrastructure has increasing importance for the EU thus the European Commission organised a workshop in the framework of the CERIS to discuss how EU security research may contributes to this goal.
