The Cooperation Network – Living Together Safely is part of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees and assigned to its Division 71C - Advice Centre on Radicalisation
Type of Organisation: Governmental institution
Project description
Topics such as Islamophobia, Mosque security and religious extremism place great challenges that can be counteracted hand in hand only. The Cooperation Network – Living Together Safely (KoSiZu), under the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees’ (BAMF) umbrella, aims at fostering mutual trust and in-depth cooperation between police services and Muslim organisations in Germany to pave the way for dialogue on national and regional levels. The Cooperation Network – Living Together Safely has been revived in 2020 and was originally established by the German Islam Conference (DIK) in March 2008, earlier known as ‘Clearing Office for Preventive Cooperation’.
Today’s and future partners profit in the way that the Cooperation Network – Living Together Safely provides:
- fundings of suitable short- and long-term pilot projects,
- fundings and/or arrangements of dialogue platforms,
- annual conferences,
- (local) networking,
- exchange of perspectives.
Interested parties are free to get in touch with the Cooperation Network’s staff to see how to work out individual topic-related approaches.
Deliverables
The Cooperation Network – Living Together Safely is currently funding four projects of three stakeholders, all concerning the interaction between police bodies and Muslim communities in Germany. Project proposals are to be submitted on an annual base.
In June 2022, the Cooperation Network revived its annual symposium on the network itself and cross-cultural competence. The next symposium is planned for March 2024 and will focus mainly on women in Muslim communities and women in the police.
