On 12 June, the Commission adopted a Common Implementation Plan for the Pact on Migration and Asylum, setting out key actions required to translate the new migration rules into practice. EU countries will need to revise their national asylum law according to the obligations stemming from the Pact.

On 11 June, the Commission proposed to further extend the temporary protection for people fleeing Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine to March 2026. This will provide certainty and support for nearly 4.2 million persons enjoying protection across the EU, and further labour-market integration.

On 11 June 2024, the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) published the annual European Drug Report 2024 that provides an overview and assessment of the drug situation in Europe up to the end of 2023.

On 4 June, the EU Internet Forum (EUIF) welcomed five new members, who joined 17 digital companies, EU countries, institutions, and agencies, the Global Internet Forum on Counter-Terrorism and the UN Counter-Terrorism Centre, to address challenges posed by harmful and illegal content online.

Two Horizon Europe projects VIGILANT and FERMI are supporting law enforcement agencies such as Police and Ministries of Interior in the fight against disinformation, developing tools to fight those who target free and fair elections.

On 28 May, the “EU versus Crime” conference, organised by the European Commission and Europol, took place in Brussels. The conference presented the internal security achievements of the current Commission, addressed future challenges and celebrated Europol’s 25th anniversary.

On Europol's 25th anniversary, Commissioner Johansson delivered a speech at the EU versus Crime Conference on Security, taking stock of all the progress made in the area of internal security over the past years, but also looking ahead to the challenges the EU will have to face in the coming years.

A Task Force on Integration has been launched in Greece, to ensure integration of non-EU nationals into their host society, in cooperation with the Commission. As emphasised by the Pact, a successful integration and inclusion policy is essential to an effective migration system.
