Project description
Community Policing and the Prevention of Radicalisation (CoPPRa), a project funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Belgian Federal Police, aims to improve the capacity of first-line police officers to prevent radicalisation.
Regular first-line police officers — community police officers — play an important role in preventing radicalisation: working in the field, understanding their local communities, and maintaining good community links.
However, such police officers do not necessarily have a good understanding of radicalisation and vulnerability: they are not always aware of the warning signs nor do they know exactly how to respond to them, so as to prevent radicalisation.
This project aimed to help address this lack by providing training and increasing knowledge.
