Notes

1. At EU-level, Chapter VII of Directive 2011/95/EU (Recast Qualification Directive) grants the following rights to beneficiaries of international protection:
   • the issuance of residence permits and travel documents;
   • the right to free movement across the national territory;
   • the right to family reunification;
   • access to employment;
   • access to education and vocational training and;
   • access to integration support and social assistance/welfare.
2. Overall, since the adoption of the Recast Qualification Directive, the rights and benefits to both beneficiaries of refugee and subsidiary protection status are the same. However, some differentiation has been made, in recognition of the primacy of the Geneva Refugee Convention and Protocol and the premise of the more temporary nature of the subsidiary protection status, subsidiary protection beneficiaries are entitled to less generous rights than refugees, i.e. with regard to the duration of residence permits, the issuance of travel documents and the access to social welfare.
