Description
Sports are powerful vehicles for personal and collective development – fostering inclusion, building resilience, promoting
social skills, emotional intelligence and strengthening community bonds. At the same time, sports environments can
become vulnerable to extremist attitudes, behaviours and radical views (including recruitment by extremist groups, hate
normalisation, violence promotion).
Thematic Panel 4 of the EU Knowledge Hub looked into this, examining how sports settings – from grassroots clubs to
elite competitions – can both contribute to prevention efforts.
