EMN Poland High-level Presidency Conference on countering irregular migration and addressing its root causes

This conference aims to shape sustainable strategies that protect migrants, support legal pathways, and address the drivers of irregular migration.

Conference Objectives
This conference will tackle three thematic blocks:

• Strengthening the management of the EU’s external borders to prevent irregular migration
• Preventing and responding to migrant smuggling within the framework of the Global Alliance to Counter Migrant Smuggling
• Addressing the root causes of irregular migration to the EU, promoting legal pathways and reinforcing the external dimension of migration through the Team Europe approach

This will be among the final events of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU, which concludes on 30 June 2025. It will bring together deputy ministers from EU Member States, high-ranked officials from the European Commission and EU Agencies, notable delegates of third countries as well as representatives of international organisations.
