Advanced Training on Anti-system and Anti-government Extremism (ASAGE) in Brussels

The EU Knowledge Hub on Prevention of Radicalisation is pleased to invite participants to an advanced-level training designed for experienced practitioners, policymakers, and subject-matter experts working in the field of Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE), with a dedicated focus on „Anti-system and Anti-government Extremism (ASAGE)”.

This expert-level 1-day training is designed to prepare experienced practitioners, policymakers and experts to effectively use the materials and tools developed within the ASAGE Project-Based Collaboration. The training will focus on improving efforts in the prevention and countering of Anti-system and Anti-government extremism (ASAGE). 

Training Content Overview

Participants will engage with the following key topics:

  • Introduction to the ASAGE Narrative
  • Practical use of the ASAGE Handbook
  • Interactive session on testing the ASAGE Database
  • Key considerations in ethics, fundamental rights, and confidentiality in PCVE work

What You Will learn

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Facilitate the practical use of the ASAGE Handbook in professional settings
  • Test the ASAGE Database as a tool in strategic and operational PCVE work

Who Should Attend?

This training is designed for advanced-level professionals, including:

  • Practitioners actively engaged in PCVE, particularly in areas linked to ASAGE
  • Policymakers involved in shaping national or regional prevention strategies
  • Experts approved by the Network of Prevent Policy Makers (NPPM)

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

To be eligible for selection, applicants must:

  • Have participated in the ASAGE Project-Based Collaboration (PBC)
  • Be a practitioner or policymaker involved in PCVE efforts, especially in ASAGE-related areas, or an expert approved by the Network of Prevent Policy Makers (NPPM)
  • Be a citizen of an EU Member State, a Western Balkan country, or partner third countries (e.g., UK, Norway, Iceland). Candidates with dual nationality, one from a Member State and the other from an eligible third country, may apply only once, using the nationality they consider most relevant
  • Have a good command of English (minimum CEFR level B2). Please check your level of English by following this link

Participation and Registration

The training will take place in person in Brussels on 22 September 2025 and will run for a full day (approximately 6 hours). Participation is limited to 30 selected experts. The event’s scheduled start and end times might be subject to minor adjustments. 

Travel, accommodation and meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) during the training will be organised and covered by the EU Knowledge Hub.
