Italy’s Confindustria provides 6-month traineeships to refugees

Confindustria, member of BusinessEurope, is the main association representing manufacturing and service companies in Italy. In June 2016, the Italian Ministry of Internal Affairs and Confindustria signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting the integration paths for beneficiaries of international protection.

The agreement provides opportunities for traineeships in Confindustria's member companies, aiming to promote the social integration of refugees into Italian society. The premise is that integration policies can be promoted and implemented through collaboration between companies and public institutions. Traineeships provided by the agreement are 6- months long, and selected refugees receive an individual benefit of €500. Companies who offer traineeships to refugees will receive a distinguishment from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) entitled Welcome - Working for Refugee integration.
