EMN collects, analyses and publishes factual information on migration and asylum issues.
Italy
The IT EMN NCP is based in the Central Directorate for Immigration and Asylum Policies, within the Department for Civil Liberties and Immigration of the Ministry of Interior.
The Central Directorate for Immigration and Asylum Policies carries out the functions of analysis and planning of migration policies, monitoring and promoting policies for the integration of foreigners, also through the Territorial Councils for Immigration, established in all the prefectures.
The Central Directorate contributes to the analysis for the determination of the flows of entry of foreign workers into the national territory and coordinates the activities for the One Stop Shop for Immigration in each province.
The Director is the Responsible Authority for Italy of the Asylum Migration Integration Fund (AMIF).
The Directorate also ensures Italy's participation in the two networks that have been set up within the European Commission's Directorate-General for Justice and Home Affairs: the European Migration Network and the European Integration Network.
The IT EMN NCP deals with the collection of data and the formulation of responses to the Ad Hoc Queries presented by the European Commission and other Member States on specific issues relating to immigration and asylum. The Contact Point also contributes to the realization of studies and publications as well as to the organization and participation in (international/national) conferences, seminars, conferences and other initiatives aimed at disseminating information of interest to the EMN.
