EMN collects, analyses and publishes factual information on migration and asylum issues.
The Estonian national contact point for EMN (EE NCP) is part of the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences (EASS). EASS was appointed as the EE NCP by the Minister of the Interior on 18 October 2019 by Order No 1-3/74 which took effect on 1 January 2020. Prior to that date EE NCP was located in Tallinn University. EASS is a state institution, undertaking research and development and providing professional vocational, undergraduate and postgraduate level education for civil servants in the professions of police and border guard, rescue, correction, taxation and customs. In the structure of EASS the EE NCP is situated within the Institute of Internal Security, which enables the NCP to work closely with other experts that engage in research, development and teaching in the area of internal security policy.
In 2020 EE NCP team consisted of 3-4 staff working on full time basis. The staff are responsible for carrying out the tasks of the EMN work programme in Estonia, such a undertaking studies on migration and asylum topics, disseminating relevant information, organising conferences and exchanging information with other EMN NCPs. EE NCP also informs and supports the local network of organisations working in the areas of international protection and migration. Estonia is represented in the EMN Steering Board by a representative of the Ministry of the Interior.firstname.lastname@example.org
