Prevention of radicalisation leading to violent extremism and terrorism is a key priority for the EU Member States and the Western Balkan partners. To address emerging transnational challenges, connecting front-line practitioners working in the field of preventing and countering violent extremism with their peers across borders has become more important than ever.
This is why we are expanding the Radicalisation Awareness Network (RAN) in the Western Balkans. RAN in the Western Balkans will mobilise practitioners' expertise and facilitate exchange among professionals within the region as well as with their colleagues from the EU Member States.
Who we are looking for? The target audience of this call are professionals working in the Western Balkans region and engaged in preventing and countering violent extremism. This includes civil society representatives, social workers, youth workers, teachers, healthcare professionals, local authority representatives, police officers, prison and probation officers and other front-line practitioners.

About RAN
RAN is a network of front-line practitioners who work daily with both those vulnerable to radicalisation and those who have already been radicalised. Since it was founded in 2011, RAN has attracted over 6,000 practitioners from across the EU and beyond.
RAN in the Western Balkans
The RAN in the Western Balkans will mobilise and connect practitioners in the Western Balkans and their expertise in support of comprehensive P/CVE efforts, mutual learning and networking among professionals, both within the region as well as with peers from the EU Member States.
In doing so, training sessions, workshops and study visits around themes such as the management of returning Foreign Terrorist Fighters and their family members, cooperation with (religious) communities in P/CVE, and Violent Right-wing Extremism (VRWE) will be organised.
The project is implemented against the backdrop of priorities outlined in the Joint Action Plan on Counter-Terrorism for the Western Balkans, signed between the European Commission and the Western Balkans in October 2018.
