In the margins of the Justice and Home Affairs Council taking place in Luxembourg today, Europol and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency signed a new joint Action Plan. The Action Plan, signed by Europol Executive Director Catherine de Bolle and European Border and Coast Guard Executive Director Fabrice Leggeri, will strengthen the cooperation of the two EU Agencies in the coming years by joining their common efforts in tackling cross-border crime, including terrorism.
The action plan sets up a cooperation mechanism between the two agencies aiming to step up information exchange, to ensure closer cooperation in their external relations, to produce joint strategic analyses, to engage in joint programming, to exchange staff and liaison officers and to develop joint training programmes. For more information, a joint press release from the two agencies is available here.
