DG HOME launches a Call for experts for the Commission expert group on CERIS

DG HOME is launching today the call for applications for the expert group for the Community for European Research and Innovation for Security (CERIS).

The deadline for applications is 14 March 2022.

CERIS is bringing together all stakeholders and work strands related to EU security research under one umbrella. As one of the main CERIS tools, the expert group is going to assist DG HOME in determining capability gaps and research needs, in ensuring synergies between different security research projects and in promoting the uptake of innovative technologies stemming from research.

The CERIS expert group will provide DG HOME with specialist advice and technical expertise in four thematic areas:

  1. Fighting crime and terrorism, including infrastructure protection
  2. Disaster resilient societies
  3. Border management
  4. Strengthened security research and innovation

Together with the other measures outlined in the recent Commission staff working document on enhancing security through research and innovation CERIS shall enable the EU and its Member States to use research and innovation in addressing current and future security challenges in a proactive manner, based on foresight, prevention and anticipation.
