In 2015, the Albanian Government developed the National Strategy Against Violent Extremism, including the measures and actions to be taken by key actors in the prevention of violent extremism, for example government and public sector stakeholders working in education, law enforcement and social welfare. Following this strategy, the Albanian CVE Coordination Center was created and is now the main public institution engaged in primary prevention in Albania. The centre is responsible for the coordination and capacity development of local actors and first-line practitioners in P/CVE; to that end, it shares best practices and develops effective evidence-based responses to counter the threat of violent extremism. The CVE Center is an inspirational example of a multidisciplinary centre and regularly engages with communities, policymakers and practitioners in Albania. During the study visit, the focus will be on how to effectively work together cross-sectionally and with all agencies involved to prevent/counter violent extremism. During the programme, there will be time for the participants to ask questions and reflect on the issues discussed; the aim is to ensure they have enough tools to adapt the knowledge and apply it in their local contexts. The aim of the study visit is for participants to gain knowledge and inspiration on how multi-agency work can be put into practice for practitioners by showcasing the Albanian example of the CVE Coordination Centre and to share good practices on how to counter violent extremism in the Western Balkans. Target audience The target audience of this study visit is first-line practitioners from the Western Balkans working in the prevention and countering of (violent) extremism. This includes, for example, social workers, law enforcement agents, teachers and psychologists, and first-liners from the local government. Application We kindly ask you to fill out this survey before 31 August 2023. We will select participants based on their answers. To be able to exchange knowledge and experiences, participants must be able to communicate professionally in English. Sources Read more news...
