RAN Practitioners Update 89 | October 2021 - Special Edition

Practitioners Update 89 Special edition

In this special edition of the RAN Practitioners Update, we focus on the annual highlight that is the RAN’s High Level Conference and RAN Practitioners’ Plenary. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, both events will be taking place online, but their importance is more pronounced than ever.

This year has been one of, if not the most, challenging in RAN’s 10-year history. RAN has had to rise to the challenge of COVID-19, tackling emerging threats that have only been exacerbated and accelerated by the pandemic, such as the proliferation of disinformation and conspiracy narratives, the emergence of more extreme and violent narratives (both left and right), mental health and increased digitalisation.

As Europe slowly begins to emerge from the pandemic, this year’s High Level Conference and Plenary will look to straddle between two areas: looking back at the RAN’s ten-year foundation and its successes, whilst also looking ahead to the next decade and the future of P/CVE.

This Update links back to a special edition of the RAN’s Spotlight magazine, looking back at the past ten years of RAN and ahead to the future, reflecting on why it was established, the evolution of the network, the people at the heart of it, and its successes and achievements. The Update also links to a new film highlighting the achievements of RAN over the past ten years.

The dates for the RAN High Level Conference & RAN Practitioners’ Plenary are confirmed as:

  • The High Level Conference 2021 (10 Years of RAN) will take place on Tuesday 12 October 2021 (afternoon)
  • The Plenary 2021 will be held on Wednesday 13 October 2021.

Both events will be in an online format. Please check the RAN Website and your mailbox for more information relating to it.
