The activities are guided by the Foundations Act. The Kide Foundation operates according to the social and health care paradigm and is funded by the Government Grand. Type of organization: Foundation Project description The practice targets radicalized young immigrants whose risk of violent behaviour has been identified. These individuals have either a legal right to reside in Finland or they are undocumented. The activities primarily focus on providing assistance and support during identified emergencies or problematic situations affecting the target group. As a result of the provided assistance, the risk of violent action decreases and the chances of inclusion in the organised society increases. The risk of violence is highest when psychiatric symptoms are combined with extremist motives. Identifying these persons and arranging suitable professional assistance from the Finnish social and health care service system is the most critical task of operations. The main forms of work are targeted outreach work, expert counselling, assessment of the need for psychiatric and social support, referral to treatment and provision of supported housing. The work is based on the social and health care paradigm, however it requires confidential cooperation with security authorities. In order to enable flexible cooperation, the task has been entrusted to the foundation specialised in ethnic issues. The action is granted by the Mininistry of Social Affairs and Health (Governement Grant). The practise has 5 social and health care workers, a consulting psychiatrist, a scientific extremism expert and a security expert. Deliverables The form of work is unique, so professional operating models are constantly being developed. Developed operating models: Psychiatric operating model. Cooperation model with the Helsinki Police Department's preventive function. A supported rental housing model for homeless target group members. The operating models are described in the official operation plan for Government Grant and in the internal documents of the work During 2024 a study on best interventions for the prevention of post-traumatic violent activities will be completed. The study will be published, and the operating models of the Kide Foundation will be developed and described based on it. The publication of operating models is decided separately in cooperation with the security authorities.
