Note(s)

1. Family tracing can be applied in different migration procedures. It is primarily done for unaccompanied minors and separated children with the aim of ensuring the best interests of the child (BIC) in the respective procedure.
2. In the EU context , separated children are covered by unaccompanied minors.
3. According to Art. 6(4) of Regulation (EU) No 604/2013 (Dublin III Regulation) , the EU Member State where an unaccompanied minor lodged an application for international protection shall as soon as possible take appropriate action to identify family members, siblings or relatives of the unaccompanied minor in the territory of the EU Member State whilst protecting the best interests of the child.
