1. The European Border and Coast Guard Standing Corps is the European Union's uniformed service which was established by Regulation (EU) 2019/1896 (European Border and Coast Guard Regulation) in 2019. Frontex border and coast guards ensure the proper functioning of the EU's Schengen Area. This includes support in migration management, fighting cross-border crime and return activities, as well as supporting national authorities in making the crossing of the border safe and smooth for all travellers.
