Note(s)

1. As part of the Skills Agenda for Europe, the European Commission developed the Skills Profile Tool in 2017 to support early profiling of the skills of third-county nationals (e.g. applicants for international protection, refugees, migrants). The tool was updated in February 2020 and will soon become an integral part of the new Europass platform, launched on 1 July 2020. For more information see Skills and Qualifications on the Website of DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.

2. The tool is intended for use by organisations offering assistance to third-country nationals. It helps to map the skills, qualifications and work experiences of third-country nationals and to give them personalised advice on further steps, e.g. a referral to recognition of diplomas, skills validation, further training or employment support services. To facilitate its use among third-country nationals, a video tutorial has been created and the website has been translated into all EU languages (except Irish), as well as into Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Sorani, Somali, Tigrinya and Turkish.

3. The European Commission and the European Training Foundation (ETF) developed together with EU Member States the European inventory on validation of non-formal and informal learning, which is a regularly updated overview of validation practices and arrangements across Europe. The inventory was endorsed by the Council recommendation of 20 December 2012 on the validation of non-formal and informal learning and works together with the European guidelines for validating non-formal and informal learning 2009 as a tool to sup-port countries in developing and implementing validation arrangements.
