This policy brief reflects on the 10th anniversary of the July 22, 2011 attacks in Norway, when a far‑right extremist bombed government buildings in Oslo and then killed dozens of young people at a summer camp and assesses whether the lessons from before, during and after the attacks have been meaningfully integrated into contemporary counter‑terrorism strategies. It argues that many insights about gaps in preparedness, threat perception and response to far‑right political violence have not been fully heeded, and calls for renewed strategic focus on understanding and countering such threats as part of broader efforts to prevent political violence.
