Preventing Violent Extremism: Integration Amid a Funding Crisis

Description

This paper examines how preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE) programmes can be strengthened through greater integration between security, development, and humanitarian actors, particularly in the context of declining international funding. Drawing on lessons from field initiatives such as the Deris Wanaag project in the Horn of Africa, the paper argues that coordinated, multi-actor approaches are necessary to address violent extremism as part of wider conflict systems and to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of prevention efforts.
