The New Age of Extremes: The Expanding Spectrum of Radicalization

Description

This collective work, co-edited by David Morin and Sami Aoun, addresses a burning contemporary issue: violent extremism and radicalisation, whose omnipresence in political and media debates creates an impression of consensus and apparent definitional unity. Reading the 25 chapters, however, reveals the plurality of fields of study and theoretical approaches in the social sciences concerning the concept of radicalisation (part 1), the diversity of violent extremism around the world (part 2), and the multiplicity of institutional measures deployed to respond to the security and social threat posed by radicalism (part 3). The intellectual richness of the book lies in its multidisciplinary nature and the international dialogue it fosters between the forty or so authors who contributed to this publication.
