DescriptionThis scoping review systematically consolidates empirical, quantitative research published from 2000 to 2023 to assess whether and how conspiracy beliefs are associated with violence‑related norms, intentions, and actions. Using defined search criteria and a PRISMA selection process, the authors analyse 25 studies that consider general, political, and extremist forms of violence. The review finds that while conspiracy beliefs show only weak associations with violent attitudes in most survey‑based research, evidence on actual violent behaviour remains very limited and focused on extremist offenders. The article emphasises the need for more nuanced and rigorous studies to determine whether conspiracy beliefs causally contribute to violent actions and how other risk factors might condition this relationship.Related topicIdeologies and Conspiracy NarrativesLinkRead the document
