DescriptionThis paper analyses 25 interviews with German P/CVE experts working in Islamist extremism. By doing so, it reveals that discrimination and stigmatisation hinder deradicalization and disengagement efforts by creating social and economic obstacles for clients. Stigmatisation from past associations with extremist groups further exacerbates these issues. Experts underscored the negative effects of security investigations and public exposure. In response, P/CVE programs must implement multi-layered interventions to raise awareness and reduce discrimination, employing client-centered counseling and empowerment measures.
