This research article by Heath-Kelly explores the UK reality, outlining changes in the Prevent strategy from 2007 to 2017. Looking at political changes, it delves into how between 2006–2010, the strategy focused on building community resilience and viewed radicalisation as an epidemiological issue in areas with a higher Muslim demographic. After 2010, and following political changes, the focus shifted from local communities to national education and healthcare networks. The Prevent Duty then adopted a big data approach, expanding surveillance to treat all individuals as potentially vulnerable to radicalisation.
