Description

The literature review analyzes the role of sport in preventing violence, crime, and radicalisation, showing that sport can be an effective tool for social inclusion and resilience-building among youth . It highlights that sport contributes to prevention by strengthening skills such as teamwork, self-esteem, discipline, and social bonds, especially in vulnerable environments. At the same time, the review stresses that sport alone is not sufficient and must be combined with educational, social, and community-based interventions. It also points out that sport can have ambivalent effects, as it may sometimes be used for recruitment or reinforce group identities linked to extremism.
