Description
This paper explores how "trad-wife" influencers on platforms such as TikTok and YouTube promote hyper-traditional gender roles that can serve as gateways to far-right ideology. It argues that these influencers normalise women's subordination through appealing digital aesthetics, framing patriarchal control as empowerment while disseminating extremist narratives. The authors examine the complex role of women as both subjects of patriarchal oppression and active participants in far-right propaganda, highlighting the gendered dimensions of online radicalisation.
