The European Commission launched the European Dialogue on Skills and Migration on 27-28 January 2016.
The first event consisted of a roundtable dinner hosted by Dimitris Avramopoulos, European Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship on the evening of 27 January 2016, with high-level representatives of public and private employers, business and trade union representatives. An informal and open discussion took place on the role labour migration can play to address the needs of the EU economy and labour markets, as well as on the key challenges related to the integration of migrants and refugees into the labour market. A public event (conference) took place on 28 January 2016, with several workshops which allowed for an expert discussion on specific issues (e.g. role of migration in addressing labour shortages in specific sectors).
